Happy Fri-YAY! I hope you’re having a good one so far. I’ve completed my weekly spin class today 😅 and have just returned home to list this brand new set of *cough* personalised Christmas cards to my @notonthehighstreet shop. Ok, I know it’s SUPER early to be talking about Christmas for some, but us small businesses have to be well prepared for all of our lovely customers (some of which are really organised and have started purchasing cards already 🙌🏻) 🎅🏻🤶🏻 Have a fabulous weekend! Morning all! It’s been a while since I’ve posted so please take this as a long overdue hello! I’m happy to say I’m OK, but things haven’t been quite plain sailing here over the past few months. Today is the first day in a-g-e-s I’ve felt able to pick up my iPad and pencil and start designing again. I’ve had a bit of a workroom reorganise since (new desk, decluttering etc) and this beautiful new cushion just slipped in... 🙈 The words on it can be a little reminder to anyone who may need it today! (Don’t the illustrations just make it that extra bit special to look at?!)

I’ve been working away on new designs recently, I will share some progress pics with you all soon... However, I couldn’t resist showing you a very special crocheted cushion which was made with lots of love! I run a fortnightly crochet group in Bath, UK (there are approx 30 of us joined). Some of us grouped together and made this beauty to celebrate the third anniversary of the group. It’s going to live in the coffee shop we hold the meetup in. I do a fair bit of crochet in my spare time alongside running the shop and have a separate account @teacakeandcrochet if you’d like to see more! (apologies for cross posting). 🌼💕

Wow! I haven’t picked up a paintbrush since finishing art college many years ago. It feels great. I’m working on some new card designs for my @notonthehighstreet collection and thought I’d try something different 🎨 @wearenoths

Happy Friday all! I’m in my workroom today on the computer working away on new designs. I’ve found it really difficult to get my creative juices flowing this year, but the bright sunshine today has inspired me to get going again and I have a lot of exciting plans to make a start on. Also, my Husband just made me a nice cup of tea and chose my favourite mug, so there’s lots of things to be happy about today. 💕

I run a fortnightly crochet meetup in @picnic_bath and yesterday evening we all made sunburst granny squares for a collaborative cushion to mark our third anniversary! As I work from home all week it’s so nice to socialise with like minded people over a cup of tea, delicious cake and colourful yarn!

A throwback to a yummy hot chocolate I was enjoying this time last year! It’s certainly the perfect weather for one.

Morning all! I hope you’re having a good day so far. I’ve received a replacement printer today (what a time for it to be unreliable, hey?!) and also this MASSIVE stamp delivery just arrived! This should keep me going until the end of this year I hope. 🇬🇧❤️

It’s Day 5 of #MeetTheMakerWeek and today’s prompts are ‘action/progress.’ I thought I’d use it to let you know what I’m currently doing! I spend a lot of time printing and packaging orders, in between working on new products, general admin, photography, social media, research and the list goes on.... I’ve sent out a LOT of cards this week and this is a snippet of one of those printed this morning whilst I was in the process of packaging it.

It’s day 4 of @joannehawker’s #MeetTheMakerWeek and today’s prompt is ‘Why?’ This is quite a personal post for me. These beautiful photos are from our wedding in 2014. At the time I was feeling a little lost career wise. I went through an extremely rough time at Chelsea College of Art and Design, London (the less said about that the better I’m afraid), but I still managed to graduate with a Textile Design degree in 2008 which I’m immensely proud of. After being advised to take a year out due to severe mental health issues caused by the course and lack of support and understanding from the lecturers, my creative juices just weren’t flowing when I’d finished the course. Whilst I felt relieved to have graduated, I also felt very deflated and worked in a variety of retail jobs in London for a few years afterwards, followed by a job working with students at a local University when we made the move to Somerset. As soon as we moved out of London, I found my creativity again which only heightened when we started planning our wedding. I did lots of crafting prior to the big day and I felt so happy and excited. I’d always imagined doing a creative job and it was at this point I decided to leave my full time job and open Paper Doily Party Shop. The business has evolved since then, but I’ll always remember why I started it and feel very grateful that it re sparked my creativity levels and improved my mental health! ❤️

It’s Day 3 of @joannehawker’s #MeetTheMakerWeek and today’s prompts are ‘When, Where and Workspace.’ This is a photo of my much loved peg board which lives above my desk and makes me smile every time I look at it. It’s from @blockdesign who I would recommend. I took this photo last Summer when my workroom was a lot more organised! Paper Doily Party Shop began after my wedding in 2014 when I became addicted to making handmade party decorations and left my full time administrative job at a University in Bath. It’s evolved quite a lot since then, but I will always remember why I started the business. I’m based in the small Somerset town of Shepton Mallet. I’m a real country girl at heart (addicted to watching Escape to the country 😂), and I fell in love with Somerset the minute we made the move from London. I run the business full time from a spare room at home. This works really well for me, I just need to get a little more organised!
